George Patrick Boire
(March 17, 1933 – Jan. 13, 2010)
George Patrick Boire, late of Lampman, SK passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Estevan, SK on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at the age of 76 years.
George is survived by his loving wife Hilda for 57 years; sons, Melvin (Janice), Keith (Merriell), Ian and Linus (Danalee); daughters, Linda (Murray) Braun, Janice (Gerald) Henriksen and Colette (Dominick) Zimmerman; grandchildren, Melissa (Chris), Adrienne (Joe), Sara (Jesse), Allison, Nicole, Axel (Dottie), Orron, Evan (Candace), Calvin (Amy), Richelle (Kyle), Lisa (Kim), Logan, Landon, Sheva, Chloe and six great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Albert; sisters, June Engelke, Angel (Alfred) Funke, Rosine (Tom) Dunn, Doris (Ray) Frehlick and Vivian (Ray) Weinrauch; Hilda’s siblings, Rita, Ray (Martha), Norbert (Odette), Gerald and Gertrude (Larry), as well as many nieces, nephews and long time friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Anna Boire; son Norman; grandson baby Boire; brother Maurice and several in-laws.
George was born on March 17, 1933 in Lampman. In 1952, he married Hilda Leidl. They settled in Lampman where Dad was employed with Esso Petroleum. His love for farming led to a farm partnership with his brother Albert and the Boire Brothers operated a mixed farm, growing crops and raising purebred Herefords and later Limousin cattle. George was an avid cattleman, 4-H Beef Club leader and enjoyed many an Agribition.
In 1974 George and Hilda returned to Lampman where George worked with CN Railroad in addition to his grain farm. In 1997 George and Hilda retired to Estevan. Dad returned to Lampman in 2004 where he spent his last years as a resident of the Lampman Community Health Centre.
Prayers will be held on Friday, January 15, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. in Our Lady of Seven Sorrows R.C. Church, Lampman, with Sr. Jacqueline Lussier officiating. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in Our Lady of Seven Sorrows R.C. Church, Lampman, by Rev. Joel Rama. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, those so wishing may make donations to the Lampman Community Health Centre in George’s memory.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Hall Funeral Services, Estevan.
