Edna Gladys Thring
(Dec. 6, 1922 – May 22, 2010)
Edna Thring of Stoughton, SK passed away in Lampman, SK on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at the age of 87 years.
Edna was predeceased by her parents, William and Annie Foley; son-in-law Stan Dunham; brothers, Ed, William, Cliff, Melvin and Gordon; sisters, Edith, Grace and Mary.
She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Ivan; children, Larry (Gloria) and their children, Chris (Brandy) and Brent, Kathleen (Emil) Schatz and their children, Ken (Leanne) and Wanda (friend Jeff), Sharon Dunham and her children, Jeff, Jason (Jennifer) and Karen (Trent) Duval, Jim and his children, Andria and Aaron, Mavis (Cliff) James and their children, Michael (Laurie-Ann), Kevin (Bonnie), Steven (Jo) and Theresa (Scott) Pearson, and Ron (friend Barb); sisters, Laura Foley and Myrtle (Ed) Allan; 23 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Edna was born and raised eight miles south of Stoughton and received her education at Hillier School. In 1941 she married Ivan Thring to become a farm wife and mother of six children. In her later years, she worked at Newhope Pioneer Lodge in Stoughton. Edna and Ivan retired to Stoughton in 1981.
A graveside service in Edna’s honour will be held on Saturday, May 29, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Stoughton Town Cemetery, with Pastor Robert Fenn officiating. Following the service, you are invited to join Edna’s family for a time of fellowship and refreshments at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall in Stoughton. In lieu of flowers, those so wishing may make donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, Lampman Community Health Centre or a charity of choice in Edna’s memory.
