Elsie Harriet Sandgaard
(July 21, 1915 – May 26, 2010)
Elsie, second daughter of Axel and Emilie Nelson was born July 21, 1915 on a farm south of Redvers (Sec. 1-7-32 W1) and raised in the Redvers district. She married Lars Sandgaard in February, 1941 and they made their home in the Redvers district. Elsie passed away May 26, 2010 in the Redvers Centennial Haven at the age of 94 years. She was predeceased by her husband Lars (2007); parents Emilie (1973) and Axel (1978);
parents in-law Poul (1916) and Johanne (1975); infant daughter Lois Jo-Ann (1954); brother Paul Nelson (2001); brother in-law Christian Sandgaard (2003) and sister in-law Astrid Nelson (2010). Elsie is survived by her daughter Edel (Gray) Cowan; grandsons: Tim (Shelly) Cowan, Sgt. Murray (Fiona) Cowan and Jeff Cowan (Heather Neceff); great-grandchildren: Lacie and Kelsey Rydberg, Ainsley Cowan, Dustin and Adam Cowan; sister Vera Sandgaard; brother Arthur (Gerda) Nelson; special “girl” Sharla (Hainsworth) Kerntopf; numerous nieces and nephews and her extended families: the Paula Jensen family, Dorothy Jorgensen and the Erik and Shirley Hansen family.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 3, 2010 at 2:30 p.m. in the Dannevirke Lutheran Church, Redvers, Sask. Interment will follow in the Dannevirke Cemetery.
If friends so desire, contributions to the Dannevirke Memorial Fund, Redvers, SK or the Redvers Centennial Haven may be made in Elsie’s memory.
