Michael John Ponchuk
(November 21, 1924 – December 2, 2011)
It is with great sadness that we announce Mike’s passing on Friday, December 2, at the age of 87 years.
Mike will be lovingly remembered by his wife of sixty years, Alma, of Estevan SK; son, Randy (Helen) Ponchuk with their daughter, Sara (Dustin Davies) and their son Mannix Davies, Moose Jaw, SK; daughters, Shelley (Brent) Folbar, Estevan SK, Laurine Ponchuk of Weyburn SK, and Arlyss Ponchuk of Toronto ON; sisters-in-law, Stella Panchuk of Windsor, ON, Patricia Stoyka and her daughter Jennifer of Pinewood, ON.
He was predeceased by his parents, Tytiana (Panchuk) Stoyka and John Panchuk; brothers: Frank Stoyka of Pinewood, Ontario, Dan Panchuk of Windsor, Ontario; sister, Katherine (Walter) Chicilo of Windsor, Ontario.
We wish to extend a very special thank you to Dr. Tsoi, Dr. Christie, and the nurses and staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Estevan for hospital emergency and long-term care, and to Dr. Morin and the wonderful people who cared for Mike during his last three months at New Hope Pioneer Lodge in Stoughton.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. Joseph’s Hospital Chapel on Saturday, December 10, at 2:00 p.m. with Marian Huber officiating. Interment will follow at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Allan Blair Cancer Clinic in the Pasqua Hospital 4101 Dewdney Avenue, Regina, Saskatchewan S4T 7T1, or to a charity of one’s choice in Mike’s memory.
