Life Story for Denise Marie Roussel (Petit)

Marie Denise was born to Jules & Marie Petit on the family farm west of Bellegarde on January 22, 1921.

Denise was the youngest of six children, all of whom are now deceased. Denise went to school in Bellegarde. After Denise left school she cared for her ailing parents until their passing.

On November 10, 1943, Denise married Solomon Roussel. They farmed south of Bellegarde and during that time their two children Roger & Linda were born. In 1957 they left the farm and moved to Redvers. Denise worked for the Holly family, the Redvers Hotel, and finally at the Centennial Haven, a job which she retired from after many years of service. After her retirement Denise & Solomon enjoyed gardening and spending time with their grandchildren. She was always there to help her family, friends and community in so many ways. Mom was a caregiver all her life.

She also loved doing needle work, and her beautiful knitting, making sure that everyone had enough sweaters, mitts, scarves and of course grandma’s socks.
Denise looked forward to the yearly visits from her nieces, the Cop girls.

Solomon passed away in 1998. Denise continued to reside in Redvers until October 2013 when she moved to Crocus Plains Villa in Weyburn. She very much enjoyed her new home until her passing on May 12, 2016.

She will be fondly remembered & missed by all that knew and loved her.
