Life Story for Inez Bernice LeBlanc (Liese)

Inez Bernice Liese Steinke LeBlanc

Born January 31, 1928 at Macoun to Paul & Theresa Liese, she was the second daughter of five children. First was her sister Lillian, followed by her sisters Elvera & Lorna and then her brother Ray. They lived on a farm south of Macoun and attended Long School. After school she helped out at farms with the cooking & cleaning & outside farm work & gardening. She also would be babysitting & rocking the smaller ones to sleep.
On April 14, 1950 she married Leonard Steinke of Macoun and moved one mile down the road from her family homestead. While living on the farm south of Macoun they had 10 children; Charles (who passed away June 1971), Bernice, Gerald, Irene, Donald, David, Roger, Linda, Doris, &. Rose. On the farm there was lots to do with raising 10 children: housework, cooking, laundry (lots of diapers), baking bread & cookies, gardening, as well as the farming, seeding, harvesting, baling hay & taking care & feeding all the farm animals. They had cows, pigs, horses, goats, chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, dogs & cats. So farm life was pretty busy, but at the end of the day, Mom would always be in her rocking chair rocking someone.

In 1977 they were blessed with their first grandchild, Tammy. Over the years, eight more followed; Crystal, Jamie, Willie, Michael, Marley, Kayla, Hunter & Cody. The kids loved going out to the farm. So grandma's rocking chair got used a lot.

In July 1985 they retired from farming & moved to Estevan. She joined St. Peter's Lutheran Church & took part in many activities & events at the church, helping out in any way she could. She started bowling with her sister Lorna. She also did gardening & canning & always baked bread. Whenever we would go to visit she would make coffee & sit in her rocking chair to visit.

Leonard passed away in 1990 at the age of 80. She continued going to Church & bowling. In 1996 she was blessed with her first great grandchild, Katja, followed by Tatjanna, Nadja, Serenity, Braden, Emma & Maddex. Again great Grandma's old rocking chair was still rocking.

While bowling she met Edward LeBlanc. They were married April 5, 1999 in Estevan. They bowled together for many years. They went to weekly music jams in Roche Percee & other places. She still had a big garden and spent lots of time gardening and doing household chores. She would always end her day in her rocking chair watching TV.

On March 22, 2015, after suffering from a stroke & spending a couple weeks in the hospital, she was moved to Estevan Regional Nursing Home. She took part in all the activities they offered there. On one visit Doris & Irene asked "Mom do you want us to bring your rocking chair" She replied "no I have one" as she rocked back & forth in her wheelchair.

In May of 2015 Ed was diagnosed with cancer. He moved into the same nursing home in August. She would spend her days in his room, just sitting & visiting & holding hands & rocking. Ed passed away Sept. 2, 2015 at the age of H.

She continued living at the nursing home until March, 2016 when the family moved her to Estevan Long Term Care. Linda bought her a couple of dolls for comforting and when you would go visit we would often find her rocking her babies.

On June 20th, this year, she was blessed with a great-great grandson, Sylus. Even though she was in a wheel chair, she held him & rocked her great-great grandson like she was in her Grandma's rocking chair.
Inez passed away peacefully on Friday, September 23, 2016 at the age of 88.

The children would like to add "Mom, Grandma thanks for everything and we will see you rocking in the big rocking chair in Heaven."
Rock On
