1930 – 2017
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Arthur Phillip Matt of Estevan, SK on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Special Care Home, Estevan, at the age of 87 years.
Arthur was predeceased by his parents, Maximillion and Theresa Matt; brothers, John and Bill; sister Arnetta and nephews, Dennis and Donald.
Arthur will be lovingly remembered by his wife Lois and son Ron (Sally). His memory will be forever cherished by his five beloved grandchildren, Corey (Kelly) Matt, Jordan (Natalie Karchewski) Matt, Lezlie (Jordan) Naka, Justin (Amy Johnson) McClelland and Brennan McClelland and great grandchildren, Kaden and Jude Naka, as well as niece and nephew Dianne and David Matt.
Arthur was born on September 12, 1930 and grew up on the family farm at St. Joseph’s Colony, SK. While working for Scurry Rainbow Oil (later Home Oil) Arthur met his wife in Virden, Manitoba. Subsequently they settled in Estevan, Saskatchewan and raised their family. Arthur and Lois would enjoy the next 58 years sharing their lives together. Arthur enjoyed curling, fishing, golfing and working in his yard. His retirement years were spent travelling and enjoying his family.
A Memorial Service was held in the Chapel of Hall Funeral Services, Estevan on Friday, December 29, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Jason Richards officiating, followed by a private family interment at Souris Valley Memorial Gardens. A luncheon took place at the Royal Canadian Legion, Estevan.
Those so wishing may make donations in memory of the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan, 301 - 2550 12th Avenue, Regina, SK, S4P 3X1.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Hall Funeral Services, Estevan.
