Obituary for Michael James Bonokoski

Michael James Bonokoski
Michael Bonokoski
1981 - 2018

Sadly, Michael's family announces his sudden passing in Coronach, SK on Monday, January 8, 2018 at the age of 36 years.

Michael will be missed and lovingly remembered by his parents, Gerald and Joyce Bonokoski of Estevan, SK; siblings, Kimberlee (Scott) Boese of Calgary, AB, Andrew Bonokoski of Thailand, Kevin Bonokoski of Torquay, SK and Katelyn Bonokoski (Jared Durston) of Saskatoon, SK; nephews, Jake and Jonathan Boese; grandmothers, Marieanna Bonokoski of Estevan and Lena Wagner of Saskatoon.

Michael was born and raised in Estevan. He convocated second in his class from the Instrumentation Technology program at SAIT. He was employed with SaskPower for 14 years, working as a power engineer, instrumentation tech and planner for power distribution. Michael was an athlete and a lifelong learner, researching everything from music to sports science to quantum physics. He had a special interest in mental and physical health - and the links between them. He searched passionately for a cure for social anxiety and depression. He was happiest when he was travelling. Michael’s journey came to an end on Monday, January 8th. He will be remembered for his dry sense of humour, sharp wit and gentle spirit.

All those who knew him loved him.

Prayers were held on Sunday, January 14, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Hall Funeral Services, Estevan and the Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, January 15, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, Estevan. Rev. Sathiadas Antony presided over both services. A luncheon was held in the church auditorium immediately following mass, after which interment took place at Souris Valley Memorial Gardens.

Those wishing to make donations in Michael's memory may do so directly to the Canadian Mental Health Association (Saskatchewan Division), 2702 - 12th Avenue, Regina, SK, S4T 1J2.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Hall Funeral Services, Estevan.
