1916 – 2018

With broken hearts we announce the passing of Gota Ingeborg Carlson on Friday, March 2, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Long Term Care, Estevan SK. at the age of 101 years. Gota was the loving wife of the late Ragnar Carlson and mother to her only son John Ramberg (Mern Bazian-Ramberg) of Lethbridge, Alberta.

Gota was born September 6, 1916 in Helsinki, Finland to Elin and Oscar Christiansson. During the war years she then moved to Gottenburg, Sweden and eventually came to Canada in 1964 and married Ragnar Carlson in 1965. Gota had 3 sisters and 4 brothers who are all deceased.

She was predeceased by her parents and her sisters and brothers.

When Gota lived in Sweden she was top manager in the restaurant business. She retired when she came to Canada.Gota had a beautiful home in Estevan and she was a lady of many talents; she loved to garden, she was an artist, she loved to travel the world, loved cats, was a part of the Sweet Adeline’s and had many friends throughout her years.

The family wants to thank the staff at St. Joseph’s Long Term Care and a special friend Margaret Mack who was always there to visit Gota and to make her birthday cakes. With sincere thanks to Margaret who was with Gota until her passing.

A Graveside service was held on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Estevan City Cemetery in the Field of Honour beside her husband Ragnarr Carlson.

In lieu flower donations can be made to the St. Joseph's Hospital Foundation (designate to Long Term Care), 1176 Nicholson Road, Estevan, SK, S4A 0H3.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Hall Funeral Services, Estevan.
