Condolence: I was never in one of Bernie's classes. But about 52 years ago in Kamsack, he helped me learn that kindness and compassion matter. Being just mattered. Every kid mattered. That I mattered. I have told this story to many people. I never was able to tell Mr. Collins "Thank you." Thank you, Mr. Collins.

Condolence: My deepest sympathy to the Collins family. Bernie was not only my principal but became a close family friend. He inspired me and got me started out refereeing basketball at Immaculate Heart Junior High when he was the coach/principal there. Since then my love of refereeing has grown and continues today as I mentor my three sons the way that Bernie mentored me. I am so thankful for all Bernie did for me and others…Bernie will be missed! With love and appreciation, Martin and Barbara Holzer

Condolence: To Bernie's family and many friends, may your cherished memories provide comfort and strength. I had the pleasure of working with Bernie in Ottawa during his time as MP. As a happy coincidence, we shared a family tree with Del being my grandmother Melvina Moser's (nee Fahlman) cousin.

We will miss your fathers visits to Moosomin and our Rambold Residence, We campaigned for Bernie in 1993 and we were so pleased when he became our MP. He was an outstanding educator and a MP that had his constituents problems at heart, One example we had two Drs from South Africa that wanted to take their Canadian citizenship and your Dad got the help they needed from the Federal level in a record time Gods Blessings as you sorrow his passing

Condolence From: Bill and Janette Rieger
Condolence: We were saddened to hear about Uncle Bernie's sudden departure from this life. Uncle Bernie will be missed. I grew up spending most of my falls hunting with him and his family around Estevan. What I will always remember is his memory, because once he met you, he didn't forget you! ...Even if it was years later. He seemed to be always on the go and there wasn't a lot that slowed him down, except some health issues. He seemed to always live life seeing the cup half full, not half empty, always with that smile. Uncle Bernie, you have lived a very full life. May you embrace the Risen Lord this Easter season! And now, you have all eternity to get to know the saints in heaven. Our condolences to all the family

Condolence From: Sandra (Mickalishen) Marcotte
Condolence: What can't be said about A. B. Collins! While you could get upset with Mr. Collins, you always had to respect him! He said what meant, and meant what he said. Thank you to the Collins family for sharing him with us. You are like family, and I wonder if the welcoming committee at the Pearly Gates didn't have St. Alphonsus and St. Francis among them. A great mentor, teacher and administrator, and I will always tell my family what a privilege it has been to know this man of deep faith. God bless you as you mourn him today and honour him tomorrow with great memories.

Condolence From: Maureen and Terry Scott
Condolence: To the Collins Family, So sorry for your loss of a specialfather and grandfather. I worked with Bernie and always admired the respect he received from students and staff. Mr Collins would enter a a gymnasium full of chattering children and there was instant quiet. He could stop the chatter with a stare. Tery and I played bridge him for. many years and enjoyed his competitive spirit, but he was always quick to acknowledge a good play by the opposition. He served the people of Estevan for many years and will be fondly remembered by all who knew. him. RIP Bernie

Condolence From: Jim Pratt
Condolence: Bernie and I had many discussions and debates about politics over the years which was one of his many passions. But, it was playing bridge during the last decade or so of his life that took over as No. 1. Bridge provided an outlet for his competitive spirit, and for his quest to find something that not he, nor anyone has ever been able to master. I'll miss talking to him about both.
