Obituary for Joanne Barbara Soroka (Poirier)

Joanne Barbara Soroka
1961 - 2018

With hearts full of sadness and love, Joanne's family announces that following a brief illness, she passed away at the Pasqua Hospital, Regina, Sask. on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at the age of 56 years.

Joanne was predeceased by her parents, David and Margaret Poirier.

She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her husband Robert Soroka; children, Derek (Katy) Soroka and Katrina (Corey) Rocha, and grandchildren, Elizabeth and David Soroka. She is also survived by her siblings, Jeannette (Ivan) Roussel, Brian (Debbie) Poirier, Julie (Adrien) Gaudet, Rick (Judy) Poirier, Dianne (Greg) Martin, Janis (Darcy) Barber and Ryan (Jannah) Poirier, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and loved ones.

Robert and family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Karen Rowley, Geraldene Geysen and Axel Larsen for filling in for Joanne and Robert during her illness.

The Prayer Service was held on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at 8:00 p.m. and the Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. by Rev. Wilfred Calinawan. Both services were held at St. Maurice R.C. Church, Bellegarde, Sask. Interment took place at the parish cemetery following the Funeral Mass, after which a time of fellowship and refreshments was held at the Bellegarde Community Hall.

In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate donations to the St. Maurice Cemetery Memorial Fund, Box 54, Bellegarde, Sask., S0C 0J0.
