Obituary for Fred Wilcox

Charles James Fredrick Wilcox
1935 - 2021

Fred Wilcox of Forget, Sask. passed away at the Arcola Health Centre, Arcola, Sask. on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at the age of 86.

Fred is survived by his nieces: Shelly, Michelle and Leah. He was predeceased by his parents: James and Mary Wilcox and his brothers: Nelson Wilcox and Lenny Wilcox.

Fred worked the Oil Rigs in Alberta for a time, then Graham Construction in the Concrete Division, building the Boundary Dam and did work at the EB Campbell Hydro Station at Nipawin. He farmed and ranched the rest of his life with his brother Lenny until old age set in and his health deteriorated. Fred quit working on the farm but always remained interested, keeping a keen eye on anything farming, world news and current events. Fred was very well read, loved to hunt and fish when his farm work was done - so a rare treat. Fred also liked to play pool and target shoot when it was not hunting season. He was always lending a hand or equipment to anyone who called and was a very big part of the Tecumseh On The Prairies history book. When asked what his favorite pie was he answered “whichever one is in front of me…”

A life's work well done. Rest in peace, Fred.

A private Graveside Service took place on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Gap View Cemetery, Forget, Sask. with Pastor Darrel Durksen officiating.
