Obituary for Daniel Peter Robin

Daniel Robin
1954 - 2021

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Daniel Peter Robin (67 years young) who passed away suddenly in his home in Estevan, Saskatchewan. Dan was born on August 11, 1954 in Carrot River Saskatchewan. He was raised on a small mixed farm in the Aylsham area of Saskatchewan.

Upon graduation from high School in 1972 he moved to Golden, BC to work in the plywood industry. In 1979 he moved back to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to attend Kelsey Institute (now called Saskatchewan Polytechnic Saskatoon Campus) for Millwright training. Upon graduation he worked for several mines in the Northwest Territories and northern Saskatchewan before accepting a position in 1992 with SaskPower in Estevan. He worked with SaskPower for 25 years until 2017 when he retired.

Dan loved snowmobiling extensively on trails in BC and Saskatchewan. He also loved to fish having owned a boat for doing so. Dan loved golf. He had played hundreds of rounds at the Pasquia Park golf course in Saskatchewan where he grew up. Dan was a fan of NASCAR racing and of CFL Football. Of course he was a die-hard Saskatchewan Roughriders fan. He attended several Grey Cup finals held across Canada over the years with his siblings. Particularly memorable were the Roughriders wins in 2007 and 2013.

Dan was very easy going and had a great sense of humor. He would never hesitate to help the people he was close to. He assisted with many projects using his DIY skills even to the detriment of his own home. He was very close to his siblings and a circle of cousins and friends. He loved attending his home farm for an annual croquet tournament held on the May long weekend. He used this time to reconnect with his family and the friends he grew up with.

He was predeceased by his father Maxime Francis Robin in 2003. He is survived by his mother Julianna Robin of Nipawin, Saskatchewan, his brother Lawrence Robin (beloved sister-in-law Karina) of Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, Mexico, his brother Lionel Robin (beloved sister-in-law Barbara) of Chilliwack, British Columbia and his sister Michelle Kasick (beloved brother-in-law Allan) of Regina, Saskatchewan.

The family will announce a celebration of his life gathering at a later time.
