Kenneth Barrie Murray
1939 – 2021
Barrie passed away peacefully with his wife Elaine by his side, after his battle with Parkinson's Disease and complications related to COVID on Monday, November 1, 2021 at Hill View Manor, Estevan, SK at the age of 82 years.
Barrie was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Annie (Wrigley) Murray and infant siblings. He will be forever remembered by his wife of 61 years, Elaine (Holizki) Murray; sons, Kenneth (Kim) Murray and Alan (Louise) Murray. Barrie was blessed with many grandchildren: Thomas (Chelsi) and Andrew (Kassey) and Jennifer Himmelspach and Bailey (Luke) Etelamaki. He was given the special gift of great grandchildren: Madison, Aubree, Judah, Philip, Cooper, Dakota and Khaleesi.
Barrie grew up in the Roche Percee area taking his schooling in Roche Percee and Bienfait. He worked at Steelman Gas, Roche Percee Coal Mine and at Sask Power from 1960 until retirement. After his retirement he and Elaine enjoyed winters in Arizona, traveling across Canada and cruises. Family, the farm, gardening, and his antique vehicles were his pastime. He had a shared NASCAR interest with his son, Ken and grandson Thomas, but especially enjoyed his trips to Daytona with his friends, Don Cook and Terry Scott – 2 egg Mcmuffins and a Big Mac made the trip. Barrie spent the last few years with the care of the staff at Hill View Manor, where they allowed him to share his room with his special friends, his dog Tippy and his wife. Barrie’s family would like to thank the staff at Hill View Manor for the care they’ve given to Barrie and Elaine, and to thank their friends for the visits.
The public Graveside Service for Barrie was held on Saturday, Nov 6, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. at the Estevan City Cemetery with grandson Pastor Luke Etelamaki officiating. The lunch reception was held at the Taylorton Room at the Days Inn Estevan immediately following the service.
Barrie’s family requested that there be no flowers, but to please donate to the charities that were near and dear to Barrie.
