Obituary for Russell L. Knowles

Russell L. Knowles
1944 -2022

On Monday, October 24, 2022, Russell Lavern Knowles was reunited with his girls.

Russ was born on February 1, 1944 in Morden Manitoba.  It has always been a debate as to who was born first, Russ or Ray.

Russ is survived by his grandsons, Brad,Taylan, Cody, and Aaron; their grandmother, Joan and his great grandchildren.  Russ is survived by his identical twin brother, Raymond (Barbara); niece Teresa (Alan) and nephew Dean (Darcy). Russ is also survived by his great nephews and nieces that were special to him, Taylor, Alexa, Ethan and Carly; sisters, Bev (Clint), Dora (Wayne); brother, Doug (Peggy) and brother-in-law Les and many nephews and nieces.

Russ was predeceased by his daughters, Kathy and Chris; mother, Ida (Dauphinais) and stepfather, Art and sister, Linda Halloway.

Russ and Ray loved to pose as each other to confuse people, especially their own children, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.  They were inseparable from the beginning and that never changed.Russ loved fishing and golfing with his friends.  He enjoyed working at the Redvers golf course where he made many new lifelong friends.  He would practice golfing in the off season with Wade Parker on the Nintendo Wii.  It surely paid off as he was an outstanding golfer. His favourite time of the year was hunting season with his brother Ray, nephews Dean and Ethan who were known as the Knowles Hunting Party.  They may not have gotten many deer but it was always the laughs and memories that meant so much.

Special thanks to those who were there for our family in our time of need, Larry, Bill and and very special friend Karen.  Thank you Karen for looking after Russ for so many many years.  Thank you to the nurses and staff at the Redvers Hospital for your compassion and acts of kindness.

As per Russ’ wishes, there was no funeral. Interment will take place in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Russ’ memory to the Redvers Golf Course, Box 889, Redvers, SK S0C 2H0.

Hall Funeral Services in Redvers provided care to Russell's family - Yvonne Clark, Funeral Director.
