She was predeceased by her parents, siblings, and her husband of 56 years, Donald Kingdon.

Born in Bienfait, Saskatchewan on October 18, 1935, she was raised in the Hirsch and Bienfait area. Married in 1956, at the age of 21, to Donald Kingdon and then moved with her husband and their 4 young children to Alberta in 1962.

She will be remembered as a loving wife and mother. Valerie was a hard working, capable and resourceful person who loved to bake and cook for her family. Five years after the death of her husband she moved to Edmonton, AB (2017) to be closer to her children and grandchildren.

A private family graveside service was held at the Bienfait Cemetery, Bienfait, SK on September 10, 2022.
