Obituary for Hilda Irene Miller (Barrows)
Hilda Irene Miller passed away at the Estevan Regional Nursing Home on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at the age of 96 years.
Hilda is survived by her children, Gloria Barrows of Maidstone, SK, Ken (Karen) Barrows of Dunmore, AB and
Len (Janice) Barrows of Fort St. John, B.C.; grandchildren, Carol (Mark) Fandrich of Medicine Hat, AB, Steven (Kara) Barrows, Trent (Malina) Barrows and Dean Barrows, all of Fort St. John, B.C.; 5 great grandchildren; brothers, Tom (Dorothy) Travis and Ira Travis, both of Govan, SK; sister-in-law Marie Travis and nephew Robbie Travis of Weyburn, SK.
She was predeceased by her first husband Harvey Barrows; second husband Fred Miller; parents, Len and Jean Travis; brother Irvin Travis and sister-in-law Irene Travis.
Hilda taught at various country school locations around Saskatchewan. She married Harvey Barrows in 1942, and they farmed in the Glen Ewen area until 1958 when they moved to Oxbow. Harvey passed away in 1970. She married Fred Miller in 1976 and they resided in Alameda. Their union lasted for 35 years until Fred’s passing in 2011. Hilda lived out her final years at the Estevan Regional Nursing Home, where she moved in 2010.
A private family graveside service will take place and Hilda will be laid to rest with Fred at the Alameda Cemetery, Alameda, Saskatchewan.
Those so wishing may make donations to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan, 301 - 2550 12th Avenue, Regina, SK, S4P 3X1, in Hilda’s memory.
