Obituary for Lester Longinus Tuchscherer

Lester Longinus  Tuchscherer
On Monday, November 17, 2014, Lester Tuchscherer, late of Frobisher, passed away suddenly in his home, at the age of 70 years.

Lester spent his school years in Bienfait. As a young man, he enlisted in the army and spent a short time in the Queens Own Rifles Regiment. After discharge he moved to Vancouver, B.C. and was employed in numerous jobs such as a plywood mill and a tree nut factory. He obtained his class 1-A license and joined the teamsters union. He then had a lengthy career as a professional driver, hauling various goods from furniture to petroleum products both locally and long distance. While in B.C. he married and had three children. In the seventies he relocated to Saskatchewan. He started work at the coal mines near Bienfait but a mining accident ended his work there. In the eighties he relocated to Wabamun, Alberta where he worked at Sundance and Whitewood mines. He married a second time in Alberta and continued working as a heavy equipment operator at the mines until has retirement in 1991. He spent his retirement on an acreage near Frobisher. He loved his animals, wood carving and acrylic painting. He passed away suddenly at home on November 17, 2014.

He is survived by his wife Leslie; daughter Lori (Garry) Stanhope of Moose Jaw; son Michael (Candace) Tuchscherer of Moose Jaw; daughter Leeann Tuchscherer (Kelly) of Castlegar, B.C.; stepson Joseph Ward of Edmonton, Ab; grandchildren, Erin (Garrett) Dessert of Moose Jaw, Kyle (Carly) Stanhope of Moose Jaw, Amanda (Lee) Tuchscherer of Esterhazy, Alyica Thome of Moose Jaw, Micheal (Erin) Tuchscherer of Moose Jaw; great grandchildren, Trey, Lux, Addison and Harlan; brothers, Andrew (Shirley) Tuchscherer of Estevan, Tony (Debbie) Tuchscherer of Bienfait, Joseph Tuchscherer of Bienfait, Emil Tuchscherer of Abbotsford, B.C.; sister Pauline Tuchscherer of Estevan, brother-in-law William Ward of Weyburn and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents, Longinus (Leo) and Pauline Tuchscherer of Bienfait; brother John Tuchscherer of Abbotsford, B.C.; father-in-law and mother-in-law, David and Emma Ward of Frobisher; sister-in-law Shirley Tuchscherer of Bienfait.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 1, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the Bienfait Cemetery, Bienfait, SK, with Carmella Mack officiating. A luncheon will follow at the Bienfait Legion.
