Hilda K. Eagles
1928 - 2016

Hilda Kristine of Estevan, Sask. passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital on June 8th, 2016 at the age of 87 years. She was the oldest child of Hallick and Ida Kittelson born in Estevan on December 1, 1928. She was raised on the family farm by Macoun and attended school there to Grade 10. She met Rea Eagles Sr. at the community picnic in 1944 when she stole his comb. They were married at the Macoun Lutheran Church on November 5, 1947. The school shut down for an hour so students could watch the wedding party coming and going. They moved onto the Kittelson family farm and Hilda remained there until 1999 when she moved into the Trinity Towers in Estevan. Hilda was very involved with the church, being the organist for 25 years until the church closed its doors.

Hilda is survived by six of her seven children: Rea (Marlene) Eagles; Roger (Brenda) Eagles; Mervin Eagles; Penny Tochor (Lyman Sargent); Scott Eagles; Kevin (Kelley) Eagles.

Hilda is also survived by her grandchildren and great grandchildren:

Rea’s children – Carmella and her son Sebastian and Sebastian’s father, Courtney Mack; Carey (Jackie) along with their children Ty, Rex and Zoe

Laverne’s children - Sonya (Kevin) Dill and their children Clare and Owen; Randi Jo (Jake) Torgrimson and their children Bree and Miles; and Jonathan (Judy)

Roger’s daughters - Christina and her daughter Justice; and Rosanda

Mervin’s sons - Kelly and his children Luke and Alexis; and Chad and his son Tao

Penny’s children - Colton (Amy Moore) Tochor their daughters Eden and Emry; Lee Tochor; and Keyla Tochor

Kevin’s son - Kody (Monica Lainton)

Hilda left to be remembered by her sister, Amy Taylor, sisters-in-law, Betty Eagles and Dora Eagles, brother-in-law, Cameron Hart, and special niece, Sharon Eagles along with many nieces and nephews.

Hilda was predeceased by her husband, Rea in 1998, her son, Laverne in 2012 and her granddaughter, Katelin in 2009. She was also predeceased by her brother, Roy Kittelson, sisters Minnie Kittelson, Helen Hart and Elsa (Andreas) Brakstad and her brothers and sisters-in-law, Trisha Eagles, Cecil (Vi) Eagles, Eileen (Peg) (Phil) Reider, Willard Eagles, Avory (Marion) Eagles, Willa (Abe) Friesen, Jules Helman, and William Eagles.

The Visitation was held on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at the Chapel of Hall Funeral Services, Estevan from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. The Time of Remembrance Service was held on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Estevan with Pastor Stewart Miller officiating. Lunch was held immediately following the service and interment took place at Macoun Cemetery, Macoun, SK.

It was Hilda’s wish, in lieu of flowers, friends wishing to express their sympathy may make donations to the Trinity Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 738 - 2nd Street, Estevan, SK, S4A 2B3 or the charity of one’s choice.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Hall Funeral Services, Estevan.
