Obituary for Mervin Wayne Eagles

Mervin Wayne Eagles
Mervin W. Eagles
1954 - 2018

Mervin Wayne Eagles of Hitchcock, Sask. passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Estevan, Sask. on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at the age of 64 years.

He was the fourth child born out of seven to Rea and Hilda Eagles in Midale on January 11, 1954 by Dr. Mainprize. He was raised on the family farm by Macoun and attended elementary school there to Grade 9 and then high school at the Estevan Comprehensive School. He began his employment at the Estevan Auction Mart then to Advance Building Products, which led him in the direction of his construction passion to Smythe Construction, PWR, and Border Insulators. During 1989 to 1996 he headed to Cochrane, AB for work and to be closer to his boys. His passion was in construction, working with his hands, even if one project took half of his thumb. You could always rely on him if you needed something fixed or needed a birdhouse or two. Other than building or renovating, he loved to fish. I’m sure there was always a competition on who was going to catch the biggest or largest fish between him and his sons and grandchildren.

Mervin is survived by his two sons: Kelly Eagles and Chad Eagles; his three grandchildren: Luke, Alexis and Tao; his siblings, Rea (Marlene) Eagles; Roger (Brenda) Eagles; Penny Tochor (Lyman Sargent); Scott Eagles; Kevin Eagles (Wanda Cochrane); mother of his children, Linda Jordens; mother of Luke and Alexis, Monica Arendt; special friends, Mellissa Saxon and Courtney Mack; his two fur buddies, Molly and Dolly; plus numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Mervin was predeceased by his parents, Rea in 1998 and Hilda in 2016, brother Laverne in 2012 and niece Katelin in 2009.

A private family memorial service was held and interment will take place at a later date at the Macoun Cemetery.

Those wishing to express their sympathy may make donations to the Estevan Humane Society, PO Box 1095, Estevan, SK or a charity of one’s choice.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Hall Funeral Services, Estevan.
