Obituary for Jeanne Marie Toupin (Pierrard)

Jeanne Marie Toupin (Pierrard)
TOUPIN, Jeanne Marie (nee Pierrard) – December 1, 1925 – June 20, 2018

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jeanne Toupin. Jeanne passed away peacefully at the age of 92, at the Weyburn Special Care Home, Weyburn, Sask., on Wednesday, June 20, 2018. She has now gone to be reunited with her beloved husband, Desire.

Predeceased by her husband Desire, three sons, David, Paul, and Denis, and son-in-law Lloyd, she will be greatly missed and is survived by her children, Suzanne Andersen (Lloyd), Yvan Toupin, Adele Greeno (Marc), Gloria Devenis, daughter-in-law Denise Toupin (Paul), and Wilfrid (Colette) Toupin. She is also survived by two sisters Maria Wilvers and Marie Rohleder, 19 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, as well as more nieces, nephews, godchildren, cousins and loving friends than it would allow us to print.

Jeanne was born December 1, 1925, in Gleichen, Alberta, to Thomas and Maria Pierrard. She married Desire on July 20, 1950, and they built a loving home together in Storthoaks, Sask., where they had eight children. She was very involved within the Storthoaks community and church. Jeanne was a founding member of the Storthoaks CWL, serving as a member in various capacities for more than 50 years. She loved the coffee, playing cards and ceramics at the Sunshine Club and Bingo and Nevadas at the hall were a highlight of her Sunday evenings. Jeanne loved sports, including curling, hockey and golf, but baseball was her favourite and she loved watching her Blue Jays play. Jeanne was an avid gardener, spending hours tending to her much loved fruit trees, vegetables and flowers. Jeanne enjoyed sewing and crocheting as well as canning and preserves of all kinds, with her children and grandchildren often being the beneficiaries of her crafts. She loved many board and card games and could outlast us all playing well into the early morning. She had a quick wit, great sense of humor, and loved to regale us with funny stories. Above all, Jeanne loved family. She loved her children dearly and was so very, very proud of her 19 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She shared in humour, campfires, meals and games, gave words of love and encouragement and loved to reminisce. She leaves a legacy of sharing love and gratitude while facing life’s challenges and always being thankful for what you have.

Her family wishes to thank her wonderful caregivers at the Weyburn Special Care Home who often went above and beyond for her.

The funeral mass was held at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Storthoaks, Sask. on Monday, August 6, 2018, at 1:00pm with Rev. Ed Hengen presiding.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Jeanne Toupin’s memory may be made to Storthoaks St. Anthony’s Catholic Church or the Storthoaks CWL.

Deb Heidinger at Hall Funeral Services, Redvers assisted Jeanne's family.
